DVD with 7 color films of events at Jacksonville Beach set to music The first clip is of a parade in Jacksonville Beach, floats are being pulled by hand on wagons and several cars are in the procession. A few horse drawn carriages and a small riding train also were in the parade. The second clip shows workers burying scrip that could be used at the amusement park in the sand for a childrens "Easter Egg" hunt and cuts to children searching through the sand to find the paper and counting thier findings. The third clip is of a parade with majorettes, and American and Egyptian flags with a procession of cars. There is a military demonstration with tanks firing, ships in the harbor, and planes flying in formation. The 4th clip is the opening of the B.B. McCormick Bridge showing B.B. McCormick cutting the ribbon and speaking into a microphone. No audio is heard from McCormick, music plays over the clip. Shows B.B. being put back into an ambulance and being taken back to the hospital and a parade The 5th clip shows Jacksonville Beach packed with cars and visitors playing in the waves, cuts to a fleet of shrimp boats in the water, then to crowds at the boardwalk watching blowing himself up, motorcycle races by the pier and a man riding a motor cycle through a burning wall. Fireworks for 4th of July and turtle racing round out the clip. The 6th clip is titled Ocean on Rampage Jacksonville Beach October 1947 - This is most likely footage of Hurricane King or the Florida-Georgia Hurricane which imacted the area around October 14th. Footage shows the following: heavy winds on Beach Boulevard, high seas at the Jacksonville Beach Pier, waves covering the entire beach coming up to the sea wall, footage of a washed out sections of sea wall with broken concrete and other materials in the waves, residents attempting to sand bag the area with assistance from individuals in what appear to be Navy uniforms, fire on a power transformer, buldozing sand at the oceanfront, oceanfront homes with tilted foundations, B.B. McCormick and Sons truck dumping sand at the oceanfront, homes with the ground washed out from under them on support beams, Title card at 18:00 - "Mary Ann & Ralph doing their part along with may other loyal beachites in preparation for the high tide which is soon to strike at Edgewater Beach Court 6:00 A.M. 7th clip is a panning shot of a photography exhibition |
